Our pedagogical guide is intended for trainers, educators and mediators. The objective is to answer general and practical questions: What are the difficulties that can prevent the feeling and understanding of a work of art? How can the chosen mode of presentation make the composition of a work of art more accessible? By what means can I promote the entry into the work to maximize its feeling and lead to its understanding for audiences with little or no qualifications? How can these 120 narrated, animated and scrolled works of art contribute to my learners’ entry into writing and culture?

This pedagogical guide is structured in two main parts. First, an inventory and analysis of the contexts and challenges of language learning by target groups. Secondly, the presentation of the Team of Art project’s approach and results: pedagogical and technical approaches, testimonies from the target groups, but also a presentation of workshops and resources.

Art and culture are an essential part of the skillset of individuals within the society, when talking about social inclusion.
Within the cultural sector, challenges remain to be seen in the inclusion of disadvantaged audiences in terms of different forms of accessibility. Adults with little or no access to books and heritage, need to be supported with the acquisition of basic cultural knowledge and skills.
While they may have no qualifications except language learning or writing skills, European culture and heritage can become “easy to read and understand” when presented to them in an accessible manner, through innovative forms of cultural mediation and training using digital tools. We show how to do so in our implementation guide.
