Charcoal

Charcoal can create many effects and textures.
Depending on how hard you press on it,
the results will not be the same.
It will be dense at the pressure point,
and more powdery at the edges.
Charcoal is popular when sketching: the process of drawing freehand.

Artists charcoal and barbecue charcoal are different.
To make artist charcoal,
we need to heat thin, clean twigs without the presence of oxygen.
You can also mix carbon material with a binder (like gum or wax) to keep it together.
