Aerial perspective

The aerial perspective or atmospheric perspective.
It is the method with which
one gives a sense of depth in a painting.
It imitates the effects of space.
That makes objects look more pale, blue and blur.
It gives depth by the gradation of colors
and the gradual softening contours.

It applies to landscapes.
It simulates changes effected by the atmosphere
on the colours of things seen at a distance.
Distant objects appear somewhat lighter
than objects lying closer at hand.
